To get the biggest benefit from your vacuuming routine, keep the following tips in mind. They will add value to your carpet in the longer term.
- A very quick once-over doesn’t do much for the longevity of your new carpet or for your health. Slow and steady is a much better idea. When you slow down with your vacuum strokes and are more thorough about your coverage, you improve the likelihood of removing more dust particles in the carpet, which can result in more allergens than you want.
- Be sure not to ignore those corners and crevices where dust builds up. We suggest that on a bi-weekly or monthly basis you use the targeted vacuum attachment in the corners of your floors. And equally important in ensuring a clean carpet is a regular practice of moving tables or chairs to vacuum beneath them.
- “Top-down” cleaning saves you the step of vacuuming again after dusting. We recommend dusting blinds, windowsills, and furniture surfaces before vacuuming carpets. In doing so, you will vacuum away any dust that has fallen from these surfaces.
- Remember to replace or empty vacuum bags when they are half to two-thirds full as this will ensure the longer-term efficacy of your vacuum.
- In terms of the frequency of vacuuming, we suggest weekly at a minimum. However, areas in your home or office that get higher levels of foot traffic should be vacuumed more frequently.
